Hambantota Port Development Project Phase-I Constructed by CHEC Won "China Civil Engineering Zhantianyou Award"

Several days ago, Hambantota Port Development Project Phase-I in Sri Lanka designed and constructed by CHEC was rewarded the 2015 "China Civil Engineering Zhantianyou Award." This is the first time that an overseas project has been brought into selection range since “Zhantianyou Award” was set up 20 years ago.

The construction of Hambantota Port Development Project Phase-I started in January, 2008 and was completed in December, 2011. The project mainly comprises of construction of 2 universal berths, 1 oil wharf, 1 working ship berth, approach channel, turning basin, breakwater, revetment, road, storage yard and ancillary facilities.

With high quality standard, the project was required that "no overhaul of wharf needed in the next 50 years." During the construction period, standards of several countries, such as China, the UK and the USA, were executed simultaneously; the construction period was long and the construction content was wide and complex. CHEC gave full play to the advantage of EPC project, paying much attention to the safety and quality of the design and construction, to finally realize the cooperation and receive the acknowledgement by all walks of life.

"China Civil Engineering Zhantianyou Award" is an authoritative award in China's engineering construction field and is also known as the "Scientific and Technological Innovation Engineering Award" in the construction industry. The winning of this award is not only a full affirmation of the engineering level of the project, but also an embodiment of CHEC's creativity and technological content in engineering design, construction and management, and is of great significance to consolidate the company's dominant position in the industry and enhance the company's brand image.
