In the first half of 2014, “Kitty Hawk” vessel team and crew completed the dispatch from Egypt to Panama. Then, with the unremitting efforts, the Dredging Division of American Regional Company and “Kitty Hawk” crew completed the major overhaul of “Kitty Hawk” vessel team. On July 23, after the major overhaul, the heavy-load trial run of “Kitty Hawk” started at the site of OCT project, Panama, and a new journey started. When “Kitty Hawk” was dispatched and tested, the leaders of CHEC and Hong Kong maritime department gave great care and support.
“Kitty Hawk” vessel team is composed of one grab dredger, two tugboats and two barges. The heavy hammer oil hydraulic grab dredger was constructed by SKK Corporation of Japan in 1988, with a main motor power of 2x1900KW, a total length of 67.2m, a molded breadth of 26m, a molded depth of 5m, a draft of 2.7m and a digging depth of 40m; the ordinary grab bucket has a capacity of 56m? and a weight of 120t; and the heavy grab bucket has a capacity of 36 m? and a weight of 130t.
